Presentation: “Fresh Cow Hypocalcaemia” by Rod Martin
Rod Martin, Dairy Nutritionist and Business Development Consultant, made a presentation about “Fresh Cow Hypocalcaemia: Past, present and future mitigation strategies” on the Eurotier exhibition 2022.
He went into the role of dietary phosphorus in prefresh diets and its positive effect on blood calcium status…. where less dietary phosphorus = higher blood calcium.
Farm trial on X-Zelit and anionic salts from Australia
In a farm trial experiment from Australia, the effectiveness of X-Zelit was compared with the effectiveness of the product Bio-Chlor. These are two products that work very differently, however both aiming at improving the transition from the dry period to the lactation period by sustaining the level of calcium around calving.
